MagStor has launched the PetaByte Machine Online Configurator at lp.magstor.com/m3000e/pbm/, giving M&E and archive IT teams a direct path to spec, price, and plan an M3000e enterprise tape library — no sales call required.
What the Configurator Does
Start with LTO generation (LTO-8, LTO-9, or LTO-10), set your slot count and drive count, then dial in your media load. The tool generates a live bill of materials with MSRP pricing, a power draw summary for your data center planning, and a 5-year TCO comparison against disk and cloud — all in minutes. When you're ready to move, a single click submits a quote request.
The M3000e Platform
The configurator targets the M3000e, MagStor's 3U modular tape library platform. It scales from a 40-slot base module through configurations reaching 640 slots and 48 half-height drives — that's 25.6 PB native / 64 PB compressed at LTO-10 basis, available from $77,999. A 280-slot, 21-drive configuration delivers 11.2 PB native starting at $37,599. The platform supports FC and SAS connectivity, AES-256 hardware encryption, WORM, and is Assembled/Made in USA and TAA compliant. An optional S3-compatible interface is available via MagStor S3 Solv.
Why TCO Matters Now
Tape is earning a permanent place inside hybrid, multi-tiered archive architectures — not as a legacy fallback, but as the lowest $/TB, lowest power-draw-at-rest tier in the stack. For M&E teams managing petabyte-scale video assets, the math is direct: finished compressed media runs at roughly native capacity on tape, so the configurator's native-PB outputs are the numbers to plan against. The 5-year TCO output puts that comparison in front of the decision-maker before procurement begins.
