Professional Archiving, Redefined
Professional archiving has always carried a professional price tag — until now. The MagStor BASE Series changes that equation. BASE stands for Budget, Archive, Storage, Essentials, and the M4000 48-Slot LTO-8 FC Tape Library is the first product in that lineup: a purpose-built path to serious tape capacity at a significantly reduced cost.
New Chassis. Proven Drive. Zero Compromise.
The M4000 is not a refurbished library. It pairs a brand-new 48-slot chassis — pristine exterior, modern Fibre Channel connectivity, built for the long haul — with an Enterprise Grade Recertified LTO-8 Full-Height Tape Drive. "Recertified" here means restored to factory-new specifications through a documented, three-stage process: precision calibration of the tape path, rollers, and loader mechanisms; read/write head-health verification to original factory signal-to-noise standards; and firmware optimization, flashed to the latest stable enterprise release. These are not "as-is" drives. They are drives that have earned their place inside a new chassis.
Specs at a Glance
The M4000 holds 48 cartridge slots and scales to 576 TB native across the full library with LTO-8 media (12 TB per cartridge). The LTO-8 drive also reads and writes LTO-7 Type M (M8) cartridges at 9 TB native and standard LTO-7 at 6 TB native; LTO-6 and older are not supported. On the software side, the library adheres strictly to IBM LTO and SCSI protocols, making it compatible with any application that supports IBM LTO technology — including Veeam, NetBackup, Commvault, Arcserve, Retrospect, and LTFS archive solutions — without requiring a MagStor-specific certification.
