LTO Tape Drive & Library Repair

When your tape library, autoloader, or tape drive fails, you need a fast and reliable solution. At MagStor, a division of MAGNEXT LTD (est. 2006), we specialize in repairing a wide range of tape storage equipment. Most repairs at our depot are completed within two business days from receipt of your tape drive.

Need it faster? We offer expedited repairs, advanced exchanges, and trade-ins toward a new system. Our facility is ESD-safe, temperature and humidity controlled to ensure the highest quality of work.

We service all major brands including MagStor, IBM, Quantum, HP/HPE, Overland Tandberg, Dell, Oracle, Spectra Logic and more.

Our Repair Process

For a flat diagnostic fee of $199, send your tape drive to our Columbus, Ohio depot. We will:

• Disassemble & Clean: Thorough cleaning of the read/write head and internal components to eliminate debris that can cause errors.
• Manufacturer-Level Diagnostics: We run the same suite used by manufacturers to pinpoint faults.
• Detailed Quote: After diagnostics, you’ll receive a clear explanation and a no-obligation repair quote.

How It Works

1. Purchase diagnostics — $199. Complete the equipment details above and add this service to your cart to begin the repair process.
2. Receive shipping instructions. MagStor will provide instructions for sending your drive to our depot.
3. Ship your drive(s) to us. Follow the shipping instructions and send your equipment to our Columbus, Ohio depot.
4. Receive your diagnostic report and repair quote. We inspect and test your drive, explain our findings, and provide a no-obligation repair quote.
5. Approve your repair quote. Review the quote and approve any further repair work.
6. Repairs are performed. We complete the approved repairs and perform post-repair testing.
7. We ship your drive(s) back to you. Your equipment is returned after the approved repair work is complete.

Additional Repair Services

• Firmware Updates: Included with any repair.
• Quality Control: Extensive post-repair testing to meet or exceed original specs.
• Repair Warranty: The six-month warranty covers only the specific part(s) MagStor replaced during the repair. It does not cover other components of the drive or library. For example, if we replace the drive leader, the warranty covers that replacement leader; a later read/write head failure is not covered unless we also replaced the read/write head. Optional 12-month on-site service and full system coverage are available separately.
• Expedited Service: Rush options available; additional charge may apply.
• Maintenance Contracts: NBD maintenance contracts can be quoted post-repair for drives or libraries.
