The TRB5-L10-MAX combines a full-height LTO-10 mechanism, Thunderbolt / USB4 host connectivity and a MAX desktop chassis with internal power and enhanced airflow. Use 30TB Standard or 40TB Premium LTO-10 cartridges to grow a removable archive, with an external SAS expansion port for compatible devices.
Model-specific capabilities

System requirements
Compatible host interface
Use a supported Thunderbolt / USB4 computer. The current product specification lists Thunderbolt 3, Thunderbolt 4 and USB4 host compatibility, subject to operating system and driver support. A USB-C connector alone does not establish compatibility.
Model-specific drivers and application
Install the correct interface-controller and tape drivers. Confirm the exact operating system, application version and LTO-10 support as one configuration.
Power and ventilation
Connect AC power to the completed MAX enclosure, keep ventilation clear and use a stable, climate-controlled location.
Additional requirements
Sustained source performance
Use source storage that sustains the intended transfer rate throughout long jobs. Suitable SSD, RAID or a fast network source can help; a 1GbE source can bottleneck transfers. Include verification time in archive planning.
Software and licensing
Choose compatible backup, archive or LTFS software and confirm licensing separately. Retain catalogs and any encryption keys, and test restores.
LTO-10 media and migration
Use supported LTO-10 data cartridges. Keep an older compatible drive available to read or migrate LTO-9, LTO-8 and earlier archives. Confirm media handling and environmental limits for the supplied configuration.
Offline by design
Keep an archive you can take offline.
LTO uses removable cartridges for long-term backup and archive copies. After writing and verifying your data, eject the cartridge and store it separately from connected systems. This physical separation supports air-gapped retention, offsite rotation and protection from threats that reach online storage.

Keep physical control of retained data without recurring cloud capacity charges for those tape copies.
Long-term retention
Media is designed for a shelf life of up to 30 years under recommended storage conditions. Follow the cartridge’s handling and storage guidance.
