TAA procurement
TAA-compliant tape hardware.
E10G-1U-HL9 is listed by MagStor as TAA compliant. For purchases with Trade Agreements Act requirements, ask MagStor for model-specific documentation and confirmation of the exact supplied configuration before ordering.
Review the exact hardware configuration and procurement documentation against your purchasing requirements; accessories and added devices do not automatically inherit the drive’s status.
Built around your workflow
MagStor 1U ePro LTO9 10G Ethernet Rack Mount LTO-9 TAA
The E10G-1U-HL9 combines LTO-9 tape storage with 10GbE iSCSI connectivity in a 1U rackmount format. Install the completed enclosure with clear ventilation and compatible power, host connections, drivers and tape software. One host has exclusive access to the tape device at a time. ePro is not a NAS or an SMB/NFS file server.
Model-specific capabilities
10GbE iSCSI · 1U rackmount
Rack installation
Use suitable rack hardware and preserve the enclosure ventilation.
Exclusive host access
One supported host accesses the tape device at a time; the system does not provide SMB/NFS file sharing.
Configuration-specific support
Match the purchased SKU, drive count, host and application. See the model details and included items below.

System requirements
Host interface and drivers
Provide a dedicated wired 10GbE connection and supported iSCSI tape-device initiator, operating system, drivers and application.
Installation and power
Provide compatible AC power, secure installation and clear ventilation. Confirm rack loading and rail fit where applicable.
Software and configuration
Confirm the operating system, drivers, application, LTO generation, drive count and media format as one configuration. Windows/Linux require supported iSCSI initiators. macOS requires a separate compatible initiator; confirm licensing and package contents.
Additional requirements
Sustained source performance
Use the required wired 10GbE connection for ePro tape access. Wi-Fi and 1GbE are not supported for that connection; link speed does not guarantee job throughput.
Operating environment
Keep ventilation clear and avoid condensation, dust and rapid environmental changes. Follow the exact drive, enclosure and media operating limits. Confirm model-specific temperature and relative-humidity limits before installation.
Software and licensing
Choose compatible backup, archive or LTFS software, retain catalogs and any encryption keys, and test restores. Confirm application and initiator licensing separately.
Offline by design
Keep an archive you can take offline.
LTO uses removable cartridges for long-term backup and archive copies. After writing and verifying your data, eject the cartridge and store it separately from connected systems. This physical separation supports air-gapped retention, offsite rotation and protection from threats that reach online storage.
Own your archive media
Keep physical control of retained data without recurring cloud capacity charges for those tape copies.
Long-term retention
Media is designed for a shelf life of up to 30 years under recommended storage conditions. Follow the cartridge’s handling and storage guidance.
TAA Compliant
For procurement that requires TAA compliance, confirm the required configuration with MagStor before ordering.
Understand the connection
What ePro is — and what it isn’t.
What it is
Dedicated iSCSI tape storage over wired 10GbE, with block-level tape-device access for one workstation or server at a time.
How it works
A supported computer or server has exclusive tape-device access through its iSCSI initiator, tape driver and application. Other hosts cannot access the drive until it is released.
Not a NAS
Network connectivity provides access to a tape device. It does not make ePro a shared file server or provide shared storage, SMB/NFS file shares or simultaneous multi-host tape access.
Use the supported wired 10GbE network and initiator stack. See Additional requirements for network restrictions.
Main features
Designed for a complete tape workflow.
Offline protection
Unload verified media to retain a physically offline copy separate from the connected host.
LTFS and backup workflows
Choose compatible software for the required file-based archive or managed backup workflow.
Removable long-term storage
Plan cartridge labeling, catalogs, verification and periodic restore tests.
Complete configuration matters
Match the drive, interface, host, drivers, software and media format as one workflow.
Model-specific installation
Use the supported enclosure and installation requirements for this exact configuration.
Support for the workflow
Contact MagStor with the SKU and serial number for setup, firmware and troubleshooting questions.
Cartridge compatibility
| Data cartridge | Native capacity | Support |
|---|---|---|
| LTO-9 | 18TB | Read / write |
| LTO-8 | 12TB | Read / write |
Capacity is per cartridge; compression depends on the data. Confirm media support for the installed configuration.
Choose software for your workflow
Backup, archive and LTFS applications.
Any backup, archive or LTFS application that supports the drive’s LTO generation and host configuration can be used, even if it is not listed here. Confirm support for your operating system, interface, drivers and media format; licensing and setup requirements still apply.
Backup applications
Veeam, NetBackup, Commvault, Arcserve and Retrospect are examples to evaluate for the complete configuration.
LTFS and archive applications
XPNTL Solo, Hedge Canister, Archiware P5, YoYotta, XenData, myLTO and compatible LTFS tools are examples, not a certification list.
Choose compatible archive software and confirm required licensing.
Trusted across industries
Archive the work you need to keep.
From media production and enterprise backup to healthcare, government, research, surveillance, legal, and cloud infrastructure, MagStor LTO solutions are used anywhere large amounts of data require secure, removable, offline-capable storage.
Plan the software, verification, media rotation and access procedures around your own retention requirements.

IMPORTANT BEFORE YOU BUY
The MagStor ePro Series is NOT a NAS or shared file server.
- Uses dedicated 10G Ethernet iSCSI connectivity
- One host has exclusive access to the tape device at a time
- Once connected, the drive becomes unavailable to other systems
- Requires wired 10GbE networking
- 1GbE and Wi-Fi are not supported
- Does not provide SMB or NFS file sharing
How ePro Works
The MagStor ePro presents the tape drive over 10GbE iSCSI networking. A workstation or server accesses the tape device directly, making it appear as a locally attached tape drive to that system.
Universal Software Compatibility: Built on Industry Standards
Any backup, archive or LTFS application that supports the drive’s LTO generation and host configuration can be used, even if it is not listed here. Confirm the application version’s support for your operating system, interface, drivers and media format; software licensing and setup requirements still apply.
MagStor ePro systems use standardized LTO and iSCSI/SCSI communication, making them compatible with many software packages that support standalone LTO tape drives. The ePro presents the tape device directly to one connected host system at a time over a dedicated 10G Ethernet iSCSI connection.
Whether a software vendor explicitly lists a MagStor ePro model or supports standard LTO tape drives through the host operating system, ePro is designed to integrate into backup, archive, and LTFS environments that support single-drive tape workflows.
Compatibility At-A-Glance
The examples below are not a complete compatibility list. Any backup, archive, or LTFS software that supports standalone LTO tape drives through standard SCSI/iSCSI tape access should work with MagStor ePro hardware.

Linux
Windows includes Microsoft iSCSI Initiator built into the operating system. Linux includes native iSCSI initiator support through standard OS tools. macOS requires a separate iSCSI initiator from ATTO Technologies, available from MagStor at a discount.
Compatible Add-On Internal Drives
MagStor 1U ePro rackmount enclosures support additional internal SAS LTO tape drives for dual-drive or mixed-generation configurations.
Want to upgrade this unit to dual drives or create a mixed-generation configuration? Simply purchase an additional compatible internal SAS drive and install it yourself, or have it installed by an authorized service center. Labor is free at authorized service centers in the USA.
