The MagStor M2000 is a flexible 2U LTO tape library designed for growing backup and archive environments that need more cartridge capacity than a compact 1U system, while still keeping rack space and cost under control. With 24 slots and support for up to 2 half-height LTO drives, the M2000 is a strong fit for small to mid-sized IT teams, media production workflows, research environments, and organizations building scalable long-term storage.

Maximum Capacity: Up to 432TB Native, Uncompressed Storage

When configured with LTO-9 media, the M2000 supports up to 432TB of native storage across 24 cartridges. This gives teams more room for scheduled backups, LTFS archives, offsite rotation, and long-term data retention.

The M2000 can be purchased as a 0-drive library chassis or configured with LTO drive bundle options. Its 24-slot capacity makes it ideal for scheduled backups, archive rotation, LTFS workflows, and offsite media management.

MagStor Tape Libraries use standardized LTO and SCSI communication, making them compatible with almost every software package that supports LTO tape libraries. Our LTO tape libraries are engineered using authentic IBM LTO tape drive mechanisms and industry-standard automation controllers.

Whether a software vendor has explicitly certified a specific MagStor model or simply lists IBM LTO as a supported device, MagStor libraries are designed to integrate seamlessly into backup, archive, and LTFS environments.

Compatible Add-On Drive Modules

Add-on drive modules are available for SAS and FC environments. The M2000 supports half-height drives only.

Speed is listed as the native maximum sustained read/write transfer rate per drive. Actual transfer speeds may vary based on job type, host connectivity, backup/archive software, file size, data compressibility, source storage performance, and overall system configuration. HH = Half-Height. DP = Dual-Port. SP = Single-Port. Maximum Qty is the maximum supported drive count in the M2000 G2. Full-height drives are not supported. Backwards Compatibility includes the drive generation’s native media plus supported previous-generation read/write media where applicable. R/W = read/write.

*Compressed capacity is a theoretical maximum based on 2.5:1 data compression. Real-world compression varies significantly by data type and workflow; many media files, encrypted data, database backups, and already-compressed archives may see little to no compression benefit. Use native capacity for conservative planning.
